Wrestler’s Code of Ethics

 

I hereby pledge to live up to the wrestler’s guideline by following the listed Code of Ethics.

 

  1. I will do my best at all practices and during the wrestling meets and tournaments.
  2. I will not wear street shoes, boots, or other forms of footwear not conducive to proper utilization of the wrestling mats, nor will I go bare-footed on the mats.
  3. I will do my best to help my parents get me to practices, meets, and tournaments on time.
  4. I will listen to my coaches when at practices, meets, and tournaments.
  5. I will practice good sportsmanship by treating all coaches, parents and officials with respect.
  6. I will practice good sportsmanship by treating all other wrestlers with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.
  7. I will keep my wrestling gear, wrestling mat, and the equipment of the team in good condition by using and caring for it properly.
  8. I will wrestle and practice to have fun and not be concerned about winning or losing.
  9. I understand that improvement comes from practice and sometimes I may decide to practice on my own, away from scheduled practices, meets, and tournaments.
  10. I agree to use safety equipment when instructed to do so and pay attention to other safe wrestling ideas provided by coaches, players, and parents.

 

Coach’s Code of Ethics

 

I hereby pledge to live up to the coaching guidelines by following the listed Code of Ethics:

 

1.      I will place the emotional and physical well being of my wrestlers ahead of my personal desire to win.

2.      I will remember to treat each wrestler as an individual, remembering the large spread of emotional and physical development for the same age group.

3.      I will do my very best to provide a safe wrestling situation for my wrestlers.

4.      I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my wrestlers.

5.      I will lead, by example, in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all of my wrestlers.

6.      I will ensure that I am knowledgeable in the rules of competitive, amateur wrestling and teach these rules to my wrestlers.

7.      I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for each of the skills that I teach.

8.      I will remember that I am a youth coach, and that the sport of youth wrestling is for the wrestlers and not the adults.

9.      I will demand a drug, alcohol, and tobacco-free sports environment for my team and agree to assist by refraining from their use at all practices, meets, and tournaments.

 

 

Parent’s Code of Ethics

 

I hereby pledge to live up to the parent’s guideline by following the listed Code of Ethics:

 

1.      I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all wrestlers, coaches, and officials at every practice, wrestling meet or tournament, or other youth sports events.

2.      I will place the emotional and physical well being of my child ahead of any personal desire to win.  I will insist that my child wrestle in a safe and healthy environment.

3.      I will provide support for coaches and officials working with my child to provide a positive, enjoyable experience for all.

4.      I will demand a drug, alcohol, and tobacco-free environment for my child and agree to assist by refraining from their use at all youth sports events.

5.      I will remember that the sport of youth wrestling is for children and not for adults.

6.      I will do my very best to make youth sports fun for my child.

7.      I will ask my child to treat other wrestlers, coaches, fans and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.

8.      I will promise to help my child enjoy the youth wrestling experience within my personal constraints by assisting with coaching, being a respectful fan, providing transportation or whatever I am capable of doing.

 

 

WARNING CARDS Will Be Issued To Wrestlers, Parents, And Coaches Not Following The Guidelines Set Forth

 

These cards will indicate that the person receiving the card must immediately leave the area before the practice, meet, or tournament will continue.
